Auschwitz exhibit at the ROM
Sunday, 23 February, 2025 • 25 Shevat 5785
2:30 PM - 5:30 PMROM; Queen's Park entrance (NOT BLOOR STREET!)
Auschwitz. Not long ago. Not far away.
RSVP DEADLINE IS NOON ON THURSDAY, Feb 20.
Join Oraynu members and friends as we visit the Royal Ontario Museum's new exhibit examining the history and legacy of Auschwitz. NOT RECOMMENDED for children 11 and under.
Auschwitz combined two functions: a concentration camp, and a killing centre in which some one million Jews, and tens of thousands of others, were murdered. This powerful exhibit explores the dual identity of the Auschwitz camp as a physical setting - the largest documented mass murder site in human history - and as a symbol of hatred and human atrocity.
This is the ROM's introductory info on the exhibit. And here is a Jan 11 Globe and Mail article about the exhibit.
We will meet up at 2:15pm and will be given a headset device with pre-recorded tracks to listen to throughout the exhibit.
- Note that all Auschwitz exhibit tickets are TIMED; our entry is at 2:30pm.
- The prices below include admission to the ROM and to the special exhibit.
- The exhibit (and the museum) closes at 5:30pm.
- AT THAT TIME, anyone wishing to get together to talk about what will surely have been a tough afternoon, is welcome to meet up with Oraynu member David Block and head off to a local coffee shop to continue to chat.
Sorry, registration for our event has closed. Please contact the Oraynu office at info@oraynu.org or 416-385-3910 to see if we can squeeze you in or add you to a wait list
